Taking the Frustration Out of Hot Swapping sRIO Boards

One very common question with serial RapidIO (sRIO) is how to support hot swap of boards. Generically speaking, hot-swapping cards should be easy – simply insert or remove the hardware. As with any high-speed serial interface, users have some expectation that the newly connected links will automatically renegotiate and re-initialize, and data packets can begin transmission. The sRIO specification provides standard, robust functions and controls to facilitate this action.
