Minimalist Flyback Converter

In cost-driven consumer electronics products, minimalist design can be found. The following flyback converter circuit is taken from the Vector Mfg Co VEC1095APOB 25 A lead-acid battery charger. The product is, generally-speaking, a good buy for the price, though it is nevertheless true that you get what you pay for. Cost-driven design is on the other extreme from high-performance, high-reliability design, as is found in lower-volume, higher price-margin products, and offers an alternative design style.
