The behavior of circuits is determined most easily by computer simulation. Simulators analyze circuits but do not determine what to analyze. They do not design. Simulator results apply to particular circuits. The kind of analysis that is useful for design is more general. Parameters in equations can take on a range of possible design values. We need methods for easily writing down such equations from schematic diagrams.
